Here are a couple of creature designs I was experimenting with. I'm mostly happy with how it turned out. These creatures started out as the same silhouette and I just kept exploring different shapes and poses until I found something I somewhat liked. There were actually two other creatures, but I ended up scrapping them. I've also included a few progress drawings of how I got to the final.

Bawk Bawk 2
Here's the final piece of the chicken mount and the pumpkin. I decided to stray away from the typical Cinderella pumpkin carriage and went for a copter instead. Still unsure if the top two leaves flap or actually spin, but seeing as it's magical, my instructor said it's not too farfetched if it functioned like a helicopter.
As for the chicken, I had a lot of fun painting the elemental ones. I want to do more, like desert, plant, and stone, but I'll have to wait til later. Maybe play with different saddles to fit each element.
Later in the next few days I'll post again with ABC Island updates and some creature designs for another class. Also, sometime in the near future, hopefully I can get my website up and running again. Until then, stay tuned!

Busy Busy!
This whole week has been so crazy! I felt like I got quite a bit done this week even with a few set backs and we're nearing the end of another semester (in about 2-3 more weeks). Spring Show submissions were due and I made sure I submitted some of my work. Good luck to everyone who sent something in!
Also, there were two events that happened at school earlier this week that was really educational and fun! Glen Schofield from Sledgehammer (Call of Duty: MWF3) came to present the studio's pipeline. Two days after that, there was a game panel that had Naughty Dog, Papaya, Backbone, and Double Fine. What made me most excited about the panel was getting to see Lee Petty (art director at Double Fine). I was a bit sad that I had to leave early and didn't get to greet them all personally though...
Anyway! It's been a while since I had digitally painted something, and although it's not very serious, it was fun practice. A maybe-not-so-much-but-could-possibly-be-somewhat-accurate self-portrait. Roughly 4 hours in photoshop. (open image in a new window for larger view)

Bawk Bawk
This was for my Props and Vehicle's class. Several thumbnails of Leona's magical book ability: Chicken Legs. The chicken legs were to spring out of the book, referencing Baba Yaga's
hut (which had chicken legs sprouting from the bottom of her house). A friend of mine suggested this idea to me having the book serve as a mount for the player.
Some more thumbnails but of Cinderella's pumpkin coach (and a saddled broom). It's supposed to be a "flying mount" however I didn't include the flying geese that would be strapped to the pumpkin. Perhaps this could be a potential flying mount for the player or a character that has yet to be revealed.

Here's the splash screen (opening title) of the group project I'm involved in. The coloring took a lot longer than expected. I think it could have gone faster if I would have done this in vectors rather than a default photoshop brush. Hippo ended up looking more childlike than his original concept, but I think I like him better this way.
The font I downloaded is called Smartie. It comes as an outline of the font. Very fun looking, but I had to color inside the font and make it look shiny.

Through the Woods
Vehicles
For my Props and Vehicles class.
Pretty much the first time drawing cars. You can see how it gradually got better as I found myself more comfortable drawing them. The cars still ended up looking too narrow. Loving the Bel-Air on the top right though.

This is another assignment we had where we had to use the same construction concept with more complicated vehicles and a vehicle of our choice. I decided to go with a 1947 Desoto. The Bobcat and Digger were very challenging... Although, I had a lot of fun with the armadillo and lobster.

I really liked the blue one, but my team chose the 2nd one instead. |

Fairy Tales
School drawings for my Visual Development for Games class last year (Fall '11). I was playing with different styles. I'm very happy how it turned out. :)
I'll keep the story a secret for now...

Fun Stuff from Last Year
Kickin' Things Off
Hello everyone!
I've finally decided to make a blog to post my artwork. From sketches to illustrations for various projects, I'm hoping to share them all with you!
Let's start this off with some studio class drawings I drew from early last year to catch things up. Enjoy!
